November 09, 2007Notice of Public Hearing The Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education, will hold a public hearing at the Clinton County RESA office, 1013 S. U.S. Highway 27, St. Johns . Cindy Civille, Associate Superintendent for Special Education wishes to inform Shiawassee County parents of students with a disability of the opportunity to provide input to the Department of Education. The issues of concern are the following documents which will give guidance to school districts and families:

November 07, 2007 Early On, Part C The Michigan Department of Education, Offices of Special Education and Early Intervention Services (OSE/EIS) and Early Childhood Education and Family Services (ECE/S) has initiated an Early On Focused Monitoring at the Shiawassee Regional Education Service District from Monday, November 26 through Wednesday, November 28, 2007. The purpose of the focused monitoring is to investigate factors that affect the performance of babies and toddlers with disabilities and their families and compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. An OSE/EIS team will conduct the focused monitoring review. The following priority areas will be examined during the visit:
The Focused Monitoring Team will review files and records, visit service provider locations and interview families, administrators, service providers, LICC members, teachers, and Early On staff. In addition, parents will be invited to participate in forums to share information about their Early On experience A summary of the findings will appear in this web page at the conclusion of the review.
