In January, 2002, President Bush signed into law No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Legislation. The purpose of NCLB is to close the achievement gap for students and to provide greater accountability, flexibility, parental choices and research-based reforms in schools. Included in the law’s requirements are criteria for Teacher Quality.
Among the requirements of NCLB are specific expectations for teachers as well as paraprofessionals who work with students.
