Tie Dye – A Nature Art Camp tradition! Bring something 100% COTTON to tie dye. Favorites over the years include bags, pillowcases, and shirts. Our process involves folding, twisting, pleating, and binding with rubber bands for resist techniques, followed by dye application. This will be the first project on Tuesday.

Whimsical Clay Worms – DeVries is in need of some new residents for their gardens, so we will be making clay worms that will be popping out of the ground to say “hello” to passersby. These worms will remain at DeVries for all visitors to enjoy.

Fused Glass Turtle Tiles – It’s a bale of turtles! Using the turtles that live in and around DeVries as inspiration, we will be creating 4×4 inch glass fused turtle tiles that will then be taken back to the Shiawassee Arts Center, fired in the kiln and returned to the campers to take home on the last day of camp.

Recycled Cardboard Forest – Using layers of cardboard, campers will create their own forest scene. It can be as imaginative of a forest as the campers themselves as they layer cut pieces of card to build trees, rocks, creatures, or whatever they want to put in their forest!

Nature Studies & Hikes – Experience and explore the plants and animals that make their home at the DeVries Nature Conservancy. Use all of your senses to perceive details, while learning of ecology, biology and conservation. Please wear comfortable tennis shoes for hiking. No flip-flops!

Come to the garden and explore the world of diggers. Front-end loaders, dump trucks and back hoes – all of these tools help with projects both big and small in our communities. MSU Infrastructure Planning and Facilities will bring some of MSU’s biggest and best equipment to the garden for us to explore. We will also have activities and crafts. Come ready to dig and get dirty at this event!

Week 1: June 16, 17 & 18 (1-3rd grade) 

Week 2: June 23, 24 &25 (4th-8th grade) 

Tie Dye – A Nature Art Camp tradition! Bring something 100% COTTON to tie dye. Favorites over the years include bags, pillowcases, and shirts. Our process involves folding, twisting, pleating, and binding with rubber bands for resist techniques, followed by dye application. This will be the first project on Tuesday.

Whimsical Clay Worms – DeVries is in need of some new residents for their gardens, so we will be making clay worms that will be popping out of the ground to say “hello” to passersby. These worms will remain at DeVries for all visitors to enjoy.

Fused Glass Turtle Tiles – It’s a bale of turtles! Using the turtles that live in and around DeVries as inspiration, we will be creating 4×4 inch glass fused turtle tiles that will then be taken back to the Shiawassee Arts Center, fired in the kiln and returned to the campers to take home on the last day of camp.

Recycled Cardboard Forest – Using layers of cardboard, campers will create their own forest scene. It can be as imaginative of a forest as the campers themselves as they layer cut pieces of card to build trees, rocks, creatures, or whatever they want to put in their forest!

Nature Studies & Hikes – Experience and explore the plants and animals that make their home at the DeVries Nature Conservancy. Use all of your senses to perceive details, while learning of ecology, biology and conservation. Please wear comfortable tennis shoes for hiking. No flip-flops!

Join your Science Center in the First Impression Room for storytime sessions! STEM Storytime takes place the last Thursday of each month. Visitors will listen to themed books, explore a special sensory bin, and play with friends! STEM Storytime begins at 10:30 a.m. and is designed for children 2 to 4 years old.

Looking for a reason to get out of the house and connect with other moms? Join us for a casual, welcoming, and kid-friendly gathering at the library, perfect for moms with young children. Kids can play independently or with each other while moms enjoy conversation, coloring, or a simple activity together. Take a break and enjoy a supportive space to connect and unwind.

Moms meet on the fourth Thursday of each month. If a holiday falls on that date, the gathering will be held the Thursday before.

Pre-registration is encouraged.

STEM ~ Kids ages 8-12 are invited to step into the shoes of an archeologist as they participate in an excavation simulation, map out and explore the dig site, and look for clues to learn about the object’s past.

Stories ~ Kids are invited to ROAR into a story on Fridays during the Summer! The fun begins with listening to stories, followed by an activity or craft, and ending by a snack!

Join us each Tuesday for a 1-mile loop around the village of Morrice. All athletic skills welcome, we all walk at our own pace, some patrons walk faster than others and that is welcome.  Meet at the Morrice Library at 11am ready to walk.  

Please no dogs.  

We will cancel walking club if there is inclement weather, notifications are sent via email or text to patrons who have registered.  

Snacks will be provided after we finish walking.

Art ~ Join the Dino Lego Challenge! Use Legos to build a home, habitat, and more for a dinosaur.
